Official Results from the Fifth Black Eagle Invitational
played on July 18th, 2004
For the fifth consecutive year, the tourney was played in 85 + degree weather. Though several degrees cooler than the 4th BEI tourney played in 95 degree heat, this year's event was marked by hot competition as well as hot temps.
The Men' s and Women's course records, 15 under par and 8 under par respectively, set in the Inaugural Tournament by Eric Westgate and Cindy Westgate still stand though Bill W. (pictured at left in hay up to his arse) and Jim B. each fired 11 under par rounds to tie. They were too tired for a play off so they just split the money. On the ladies side, Theresa M. fired a brilliant 5 under par round to capture the ladies purse, with Cindy B. in 2nd and Sharon V. 3rd.
Yeah, I found it but so what??
Nobody could master the Hole In One Shot so the carry-over pot is now at $126. There were 30 entries this year and well over 300 golf balls hit at the target, but to no avail. At 78 yards, it played too close for the guys and too far for the gals. The pot should exceed $150 next year!!
Pictured at left is the Head Pro from The Royal and Ancient Muckabout Golf and Country Club in Tockton, England with his coach, his water girl, his caddie, and a reserve!!just in case. Always a good sport, and again passing up the British Open which conflicts with the Black Eagle Invitational, he did place in the top 10 in the Men's Division because only 9 men finished the course. He has already committed to an appearance in the 6th B.E.I. and "will take it seriously this time". (Right....)
Here's our Viv, good stance, good posture, decent grip (a little weak in the left hand), trying to get the gallery to stop making cracks about her cleavage. The concensus was that she needs to bend over more at the waist and get those elbows a little closer together. Viv did go on to win the Putting Contest and the Closest To The Pin Contest!!
Carrie, Kim, and Colt resting in the shade. In fact, Colt rested there most of the round!
Sharon V. pictured here with Cindy B., is taking a dangerously angled approach under a tree and over the corner of the pond. She did manage to pull this shot off to Cindy's amazement. Cindy managed to hold off the charging Sharon on the back nine to claim second place.
